As part of the European joint action Xt-EHR – Extended EHR@EU Data Space for Primary Use, in which SPMS leads two working groups, the survey “EHR in Undergraduate Medical Curricula in Europe” is currently underway. It aims to explore how Digital Health and Electronic Health Records (EHR) are being integrated into medical education across the European Union (EU). The survey is available here[PT1] .
The study seeks to understand the level of digital literacy among medical students and faculty in the EU, and how key topics, such as the use of EHRs, interoperability, and secure management of health data, are taught in universities. The findings will help shape recommendations and best practices, supporting the digital skills of the health professionals in the upcoming years.
The Xt-EHR joint action supports the implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) Regulation, which is already in effect. This is achieved through the elaboration of implementation guides that will serve as basis for the implementation acts of the EHDS. These measures will directly affect systems that handle health data, including clinical software, the European Electronic Health Record Exchange Format (EEHRxF), and access and auditing mechanisms across the EU.
