Portugal hosts the unveiling of the outcomes from the European PATHeD action’s pilot – SPMS

SPMS convened 11 partners from 9 Member States, on May 21st and 22nd, to showcase the outcomes of European initiative PATHeD (Enabling Patient Access to their Health Data).

This innovative project has facilitated the creation of a service that will enable citizens to access their Patient Summary through a mobile application, enabling them to present it to healthcare professionals in Portuguese, English or other languages. This new service will use components of the current MyHealth@EU infrastructure, bringing these services closer to the citizen.

In Portugal, this new service will be made available through the SNS 24 application and SPMS has played a significant role in defining this future service at the European level. Furthermore, SPMS leads the working group responsible for defining and monitoring the evaluation objectives for these pilots currently being deployed in the countries Cyprus, Slovenia, Hungary, Ireland, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

The meeting also aimed to outline European-level recommendations for potential new use cases related to citizen data access. Moreover, the significance of fostering a citizen-centric ecosystem that enables seamless and unrestricted access to individual health data was emphasized.

This service will be continually improved, as official translations, validated by experts, are increased to follow the evolution of the MyHealth@EU services, which will be a fundamental element in the future European Health Data Space.
